SAN DIEGO REPORT
THE RANCHO SANTA FE DEMOCRATIC CLUB PROUDLY PRESENTS THREE YOUNG DEMOCRATS FROM THE SAN DIEGO CITY COUNCIL
Alvarez, Cole and Gomez
Democrats hold a 5-4 advantage on the San Diego City Council. In March, our Club welcomed newly elected Barbara Bry (District 1) and Chris Ward (District 3) – along with new city attorney Mara Elliott.
In November, our featured speakers and guests of honor will be the other three Democrats on the council.
Don’t miss this chance to meet, hear, and question these young Democratic leaders: David Alvarez (District 8) will term out in 2018. He plans to run for the supervisor seat of Republican Greg Cox, who will term-out in 2020. Myrtle Cole (District 4) is council president. Georgette Gomez (District 9) replaced Marti Emerald who did not seek re-election in 2016.
Why come to an event featuring speakers from districts in which we do not live and vote?
Because votes of the San Diego City Council strongly impact the quality of life in North County – remember One Paseo. Because maintaining and expanding the Democratic council majority is beneficial to the San Diego region. Because we Democrats need always to find new candidates for higher office. Because our Club should financially support Democrats across the region. Because these three Democrats give voice to the needs and aspirations of our minority populations.
